John Benham
John Benham is the owner and operator of Pure Barren River Honey. He has been a full-time beekeeper for 25 years and breeds high-quality local queens. His bees consistently produce 100+ pounds of honey per colony and have won numerous awards. Benham is a Certified Master Beekeeper through the Eastern Apiculture Society and served as the 2019 president of the Kentucky State Beekeepers Association. He’s a part of the Mammoth Cave Area Beekeepers and stays active with other groups in the area.
John spends a lot of time teaching and sharing what he knows at bee schools and events across multiple states. He’s been a keynote speaker at major conferences and advises the Kentucky Queen Bee Breeders Association. He is passionate about educating people about how bees are essential to the environment and to sustaining the land and ecosystem.
