River Cottage Farm
why?
"I think everybody has a right to have access to good food, and it's hard to do that without local sources. Everything I do on a day-to-day basis has a customer in mind."
-Brayden Apple
Brayden & Christina Apple
River Cottage Farm is run by Brayden, along with his mom, Debbie, and stepdad, Greg. Brayden grew up in a farming family, but didn’t like the way the agricultural industry raised food. He and his wife, Christina, met at WKU, and after the birth of their son, she decided to work on the farm as well. Today, they raise a variety of products, including lamb, beef, chicken, eggs, raw milk, pork, and gluten-free baked goods. Their farm reflects both their family roots and their shared commitment to doing things differently.
They farm sustainably to care for the land while producing healthy food for their community. Their farm uses regenerative, ecosystem-focused practices that prioritize soil health and biodiversity. By relying on natural systems for things like pest control, they reduce the need for outside inputs and prevent topsoil loss. All of their products are grass-fed and pasture-raised, and because they personally know their customers, they hold themselves to high standards. Their work supports a resilient local food system and protects the land for future generations.
